1. Log into Magento backend
2. Go to System – Configuration – Sales – Sales – Gift Options
3. Select Yes for Allow Gift Messages on Order Level
4. Click Save Config.
The checkout page will now include a Gift Options message within the shipping method section:
You also have an option of enabling gift messages on item level along with orders (Point 3). This will add additional gift messages for individual products as you scroll down in the Shipping Method section:
